When should I seek urgent care for my pet?
If you’re worried about your pet or notice anything out of the ordinary, it’s always okay to have them checked. Some signs that may need more immediate attention include heavy bleeding, difficulty breathing, ongoing vomiting or diarrhoea, choking, seizures, sudden weakness, or collapse. If you’re unsure, we’re here to help guide you.
How is urgent care different from daytime consultations?
The consultation process is similar to what you might experience during the day, but urgent care focuses on pets who are unwell and may need prompt attention. In these cases, we may recommend additional tests, such as blood work or imaging, to better understand what’s going on and begin treatment as soon as possible.
What will be the waiting time be like?
Consultations between 6:00 and 8:30 PM are mostly by appointment. During this time, we do our best to keep things running smoothly, and waiting times are usually around 0 to 30 minutes, depending on the consultation before yours.
For urgent care between 8:30 and 11:00 PM, we kindly ask that you give us a call in advance so we can prepare for your visit. When you arrive, our team will assess your pet as soon as possible. If your pet is critically unwell, they will be attended to right away. For pets who are stable, there may be a short wait, typically between 0 to 60 minutes, depending on how many urgent cases we are caring for at the time, including those already hospitalised.
What should I bring to my pet’s appointment?
When coming in, please bring your pet along with any relevant medical records, such as previous blood test results or imaging reports. As consultations take place later in the evening, it may not always be possible to reach your regular veterinarian during your visit, so any information you can provide will be very helpful for us in caring for your pet.
What are the consultation fees?
For weekend consultations between 6:00 and 8:30 PM, the fee is $80. From 9:00 PM onwards, the consultation fee is $150 for both weekdays and weekends. These later hours include a surcharge, as our team remains available to care for pets in need outside of regular hours.
